Lacey...Lacey has been growing like a weed. She now towers over her sister Molly. She has fit right into the family and is now anxious to go for a ride in the van. (She no longer gets carsick) She also loves to take a walk which is a Big change from when she first came to us. Molly has also taught her how to commandeer the bed, couch, recliner and any other soft spot their human pets think is for their comfort. Her tail is wagging the majority of the time now and she is showing some independence. It has only been 4 1/2 months since she has been with us and she fits like she has always been a part of the family. 0902

Ally & Darma may have been too active for their first human family, but not so at this BC foster home! It was love at first sight, even though I met them while in "jail" shelters. Their high energy levels are just what made it too difficult to let them leave my care. They are a perfect match for my 3 year old BC, Briggs. He is high energy, yet timid with most other doggies. His interest in flyball & agility lead me to seek BC companions. Now, the three of them are learning together & channeling there energy on doggie sports. Ally shows great flyball skills, while Darma seems to prefer herding.

Come spring, Ally & Darma will start their first agility class. Darma has an unusual skill for home & yard decorating. She has a flair with selecting certain items in the house & finding just the right "spot" for them outside among the flowers & ornamental grasses. Several outdoor decorations have been brought in to replace the empty "spots" on the end tables. Her latest project is the attempt to bring the stone bird bath into the entertainment room....not only is it quite heavy, it won't pass through the doggie door! These young gals have brought much life, love, & laughs to our home. 0902

Jaz "has caused a little strife in the family. I have to peel the boys off of her to get them to go to school or bed, particularly Sam, and more than once I've taken a later train to work because I can't bear to leave her on a Monday morning. She is such a lovable doll I can't imagine anyone discarding her like that. Even my husband, who is as critical, impatient and skeptical as you can find, is totally smitten with her and takes her running.

She started obedience school last Monday in a class with Shawn and they seemed very happy to see each other again. She can only remain in a sit-and-stay position for a short while before she needs to jump up for a hug. It's very hard to correct her when she gazes at you with those golden eyes. She has frequent walks and playdates with the bearded collie up the street though they alternate being intimidated by each other. They both could use some sheep." 0902

Joe "... is doing great! He loves getting petted and talked to. He also likes to wander around the house alot, especially 'looking' for our cats. His 'stare' really unnerves them. Our youngest cat is female and I think she has figured out he can't see her. He finds her and does that stare thing and she has figured out that if she circles behind him, he won't see her and she will sit just behind his tail and groom herself. If cats could chuckle, I would think that is what she is doing.

He has been on a couple more car rides and you're right, Joe rides very well. I've never seen such a calm dog. Our other dogs have gotten used to him already. They are basically ignoring each other, I'm sure that will pass once Joe gets used to his surroundings and they all get to feeling more comfortable with each other. Alyssa and I have been taking him for walks. I put him and my cocker spaniel side by side and they walked pretty good together. Joe is so quiet, we've tried to get him to play but he doesn't seem to know what we want him to do. Maybe in time... He really likes Alyssa but seems to like me and my husband too. Maybe we just know where to scratch him best. "

X Akira ... read Akira's Foster Journal. "I was at the Dog Doctor Today and got a treatment of incepter and spent the day with a nice lady vet as they watched over me to see my reaction to the medication. She also took X-rays of my insides, Boy was that weird I could see my heart and lungs and bones, my new friends wanted me to have a base line X-ray done, I heard the Vet lady tell them there was only minor damage to the heart and no signs of damage to the lungs and in time the damaged parts would repair them selves. I will go back to the nice lady in 6 weeks for another blood test to make sure all those pesky worms are gone." Akira's family later adopted another GLBCR dog, Alette.. 1002

X Kira (Faira) "Kira loved backpacking in the UP last week. Brock said she was doing 13 miles a day and loving every minute bounding through the woods. She also got to come with us and Tam this past weekend for my Aunt's 75th birthday in Chicago. She's a good traveler and had no problems adjusting to being a guest at my aunt's house. I think it helps that she has Tam to show her the ropes. They enjoy each other's company and play together. This morning for the first time they were chasing each other around the yard. While in Chicago they got to go to the beach. Kira loved that and was tearing up and down along the water. She's fast! And of course she won over my aunt and sister right away! She's doing fine with the cats though still doesn't entirely trust Finn the little scamp. Of course we don't trust him to stay out of trouble either so she has good sense. Don't get me wrong. He's very friendly but very rambunctious and full of mischief. We havn't had any trouble with separation issues though the animals are not usually alone at home for very long periods. So I just wanted to let you both know that all is well and Kira is settling in very nicely. Thanks again for hooking us up with her! " Kira has a new GLBCR brother, Sully!
