Jordan (Panji) 3/17/04 When we got him, Herb was confined to his chair a good part of the
day. Jordan adapted immediately to a less active day. Herb's own
therapy was tossing the ball a couple of feet to Jordan and Jordan
would drop the ball from the top of our stairs and when Herb caught it
he would throw it back and sometimes they would do that for 30 minutes
or more. Good for them both. Jordan seemed to think Herb needed him by
his side and never left him for a moment except when he slept with me.
This way he bonded with us both very well. It didn't bother Jordan a
bit that they only went out to play for a couple minutes at a time when
he needed out. They developed a concentration game on the ball Herb
threw from sitting. Jordan would stare at the ball on point with
complete concentration until Herb tossed the ball. Jordan loves all of our neighbors, our grandchildren and us. He
guards the door all day from the top of the stairs outside our office,
and barks whenever he hears something threatening, otherwise he never
barks. I can't tell you how much we love this dog. He is so happy too,
and we have many games we play together. He is quite self-disiplined
and comes and stares at us at bedtime if we haven't turned off the tv
yet. It is so funny. |

Tessa "We love our Tessa. She learns very quickly. She comes when we call most times, although I think she is deaf in one ear. She sits, shakes and lays down. She retrieves and drops the ball in your hand and now catches 8 out of 10 in the air. We introduced her to the water twice and allowed her to wade out as far as she wanted. It didn't appear that she was ready to swim........until her 2 black lab cousins came to visit. Within 10 minutes after seeing them swim, she started swimming then began diving off the dock. She really is a nice dog. Thanks again for the quality time that you spent with her. I hope you enjoy the pictures..........especially the one where she is "walking on water" ! 0403 |

Sully ... was found abandoned in a rough Chicago neighborhood. Local kids said he belonged to a family who moved out of the area and just left Sully behind. A kind rescuer took him in and contacted GLBCR. "I wanted to let everyone know that Sully (adopted 4/03) is thriving. He's gone from 25 lbs to 37 lbs and his finally getting his adult coat. He loves to wrestle, play with, and be chased by Kira (adopted 10/02). Even Tam, our 11 yo shep/husky plays with him because he loves her rough and tumble style. He has finally settled in to a respectful (with the old ladies) and playful (with the 2 yo's) relationship with the cats. And now that he's about 9 or 10 mos. old he's starting to jog with my husband much to everyone's delight. He's just back from our vacation to my family's house in northern Michigan. He loved the hiking (lovely disgusting things to roll in), beach combing (yum, dead fish!), and wading in the lake (after getting past his fear that the waves were going to swallow him). And he's learning basic commands quickly (and being an adolescent, forgetting them frequently). He is a very sweet and friendly dog and lots of fun. I know when he's past his puppy silliness (entertaining but at times exasperating!) he'll be a wonderful adult dog." 0403

Hi my name is Memphis and I went to live with my new mom to be a flyball dog. I already loved flyball so I was ready to try. She takes me to practice and I get to run and practice with the team. She also took me to a tournament and I did something called single dog racing and ran my fastest 4.6 seconds. I think my mom said that was fast as the "wind". I love flyball but you should see my yard. I have 2 acres to run on and I dont have to come in if I'm not done playing. My mom will play with me after dark even. My new sister a golden does agility, I might try that also, it looks fun the way she does the weave poles. I like to bark at her. I go to work every day with my mom and she plays with me at lunch. I've met lots of men at her job, I didn't like men, but I guess they're okay. I dont feel I have to bark at them anymore. I'm having a good time, there are so many tennis balls here it's hard to play with just one. 0403 |

Missy ... "gets to go to work with me almost every day and loves everyone our office. She also got introduced to Lake Michigan and has requested a claw-proof "floaty", because she wants to be with us every minute of every hour of every day and if we are floating in the lake, she wants to float with us. She has been swimming for what we think is the very first time, and LOVES to go for long walks in the woods with other doggie and people friends. Here is also a pic of Missy thinking about catherding. The cat is thinking "Cats are not for herding!"" 0403 05/02/2006 Missy got her Canine Good Citizen certificate! She is now a member of Shaggy Pines Dog Park, and she has a PACK of human and canine friends. Missy is now PERFECTLY HAPPY, and it is a joy to us to see it. We are very proud of Missy. She managed to conquer her considerable issues to become a complete angel of an adorable dog. She is smiling ALL the time, and no longer hides in the basement during thunderstorms. She was on a radio show this morning but we couldn't get her to say anything, because she knows during working hours she is supposed to be QUIET. She can do "invisible dog" really well.
