Nutmeg (Peanut) was skittish about meeting new people. She loves animal crackers! Peanut needs a home with a someone who help her build confidence and tell her what a great girl she is. 0603

Xander ...he is so great! He is definately not the dog we adopted. He is so loving, outgoing and happy. He even wants to stop and meet new people on our walks around the neighborhood. He gets new squeaky toys each time we go shopping and he has quite a collection now. And oh how he loves to chase them when you throw them and he can tear right through the house after them too. He loves to cuddle and he even asks to go out now and back in. It's so cute in the morning, he'll put his feet on the edge of the bed and start licking my hands and arms and whining his cute little....."oh I'm so cute" whine. Once he knows that I'm awake he'll bark and wag his tail to go out. Then he'll bark to come back in for breakfast and then a walk. I think it is so great that he is no longer afraid to use his little bark. He is not shy about it at all. He even barks when the doorbell rings or someone knocks. His favorite spot to lay down after breakfast is in the front room. It has an east facing big window and the sun comes through so nice and warm. He lays flat out and takes a nap. He never leaves the yard and is quite happy and content to follow me around the yard planting flowers and moving things around. This past weekend he helped us stain the fence and has a lovely tint of rosewood on him. He doesn't care for the vet, but is learning to enjoy his grooming. He likes rides in the car and when I leave him at home in the kitchen he literally jumps about 3 feet in the air laterally when we come home. He has truly found his place in the family and already we couldn't imagine our home without him or all the squeaky toys littering the floors. (They are everywhere!!) He has his crate in the family room but only uses it once in a while. His crate in our room he hasn't used for a long time now. He chooses to use his favorite snowman blanket and pillow by our bed. His favorite though is the bed in the front room. It is just a sheepskin covered bag and he hides his treats there and naps. He loves it - it's kind of like "safe" when playing with his toys. He'll go get his toy - bring it back to his bed waiting for you to come and get it - and then he's off again. He also has the cutest smile. We'll be walking and he'll turn back and look up at me with this silly grin on his face and I can't help but giggle. He walks with his tail up all the time now. He has such confidence. He must be feeling secure as he doesn't even follow me around like velcro anymore. He is happy to do his own thing and he knows that mummy isn't leaving him. As a matter of fact he is up in the sun as we speak and I am down in the family room. I could spend all morning talking (typing) about my little guy, there is so much to say and his little life is quite full. He truly is happy and we love him so dearly. Thank you again so much for letting him become part of our family. You can be certain that he is loved and well taken care of (spoiled actually - I even warm up his meals and sometimes add a little shredded cheese for a treat). We have changed his food. I found that when I gave him the Ol'Roy - he would pick out the bits of meat and leave the rest. So I started using the Canidae soft food too and we mix the crunchy with the soft and it all mixes in together so he has to eat it all . Best regards, Sandi and Xander 0603

Napper is 8.5 years old and was a working goose police dog until he retired. He has an extremely soft and luxurious coat. He's an affectionate fella but doesn't make himself a pest about it. 0603

Unbeknownst to us Kenya's (Catherine's) time was up at an overcrowded Illinois shelter, when a GLBCR volunteer saw her picture on our website and emailed her rescuer to ask how she was doing. Catherine was immediately taken out of the shelter and eventually moved into our rescue, although nothing was known about her physical condition or veterinary needs. Fortunately, she tested negative for heartworm infestation, so she's been brought up to date on her vaccinations and started on preventative, and she'll be spayed this week. Her foster mom says Catherine is fine with small children, and cats, and usually ok with other dogs as long as they don't get in her cute little face! She is a tiny girl, only 37 lbs and has a beautiful long black coat.

Curry /Scout is doing great!!! We all adore him!!! Of course Scout had difficulty the first couple days, but actually, now she seems to be better. and I think in a couple weeks (I hope anyway) things will be OK w/her. Curry has been walking, swimming, and going to work. They play in the backyard, and our next door neighbors Jack Russell has been over to play. He has been very good in his crate at night, sleeps all night.

Scotchie was found by some college kids when she started hanging around their back yard. She was one wild girl, more energy than even Patty was used to. She's finally met her match in her new home with two other wacky dogs. "She is a really good dog! I just have to work on jumping and her wanting to get all the attention. Taz and Skye are being very good about her wanting all the attention! after a week or two she will settle in more and get used to the routine around here." 0703

Fae was a shy and quiet little girl, who just needed a foster family that understood she sees the world as a big and scary place. Home at last, and with new confidence, Fae is one happy girl.

Dylan

Dear GLBCR Friends, Just wanted to keep in touch, since my e-mail has been out for so long. Dylan is the world's best dog and he is thriving with us! He is a snuggler and wants to be held by one or both of us anytime we're home. He manages the long days without us well, but is definitely ready to play as soon as we get home. He has a stuffed goose and a stuffed squirrel as favorite toys -(his earlier ball died of teeth punctures!). He also enjoys a chew toy from time to time - and is great with sticks in the park. Especially he loves the snow, so we will have to make up for Spring to him by extra walks. In the snow he does a wonderful "wolf" imitation, leaping and bounding and generally being frisky. Then he has an imaginary herd of sheep that he rounds up, barking and growling until all are together - of course, there are no sheep visible to my eyes, but he is clear about where they are and where they should be. He sleeps in the bed with Davidson each night, or if Davidson should not be home, he sleeps literally on top of me. He has gained a bit of weight over the winter, so we probably need a doggie diet for awhile, but maybe the increased exercise will help. His favorite time of day is breakfast when he shares a piece of toast with Davidson - it's the only time of day when he's allowed to beg. At the end of June, I'll be leaving my present position, but remaining in Chicago. I'll try to keep you updated as to e-mail and phone changes. Meanwhile, I just wanted to thank all of you for your role in helping us find such a perfect match. Dylan sends his love too and a wet kiss.

Judy

"She's just a tiny little thing - only 29 pounds." Worn out from her journey into rescue, she has settled quietly into her crate. It's been a hard day for her. 0803
