Polly

Polly is a delight! She has us trained, to be sure, and we don't mind it a bit! She's walking about 6 miles a day with us - 3 miles in the early a.m. with me and the rest in shorter walks throughout the day. We're trying to train her to "come" so that we feel comfortable having her off-leash in the woods with us.

Polly is wonderful with our grandkids. They lie on her and she just wags her tail. Any human contact is fine with her, it seems, and the more the better! She's not overly excited about meeting other dogs, but when a person comes close she puts on the act - sit, paw up - pet me! She always gets her way! Chuck says the folks at the P.O. love her! (She's nudging my elbow as I type this letter!) Oh - Polly tolerates all birds except the Red-wing Blackbirds. When she sees them she takes off, (on her expandable leash) barking and talking. Of course, they chatter right back at her. It's hilarious to see! Her energy is endless. It's difficult to believe that she's 13-years-old!

We feel so fortunate to have found her to adopt. I can't imagine a better fit with any other dog than Polly. We love her to pieces!! Because she's so calm and good-natured, I want to look into taking her to senior centers to visit. That's on my list for this summer when I'm out of school!

We truly appreciate every effort that was made on our behalf to connect with Polly. I've told several people about the Border Collie Rescue service, and think that the job you do is terrific! Thanks to all who made Polly our pet! 03/04

Dudley 03/04

Adoption Name: Dudley
Adoption Date: March, 2004
History: A young rambunctious BC/Golden mix, Dudley wound up in the shelter twice during his first year, because no one took the time to teach him manners.

... wanted you to see how rough this dog has it...

Dudley is doing very well. Ive been going to wait and send pictures but of course I dont have them ready yet. Dud goes to day care about twice a week, like today when he is especially rowdy. We went to the Bark Park for the first time on Sunday thinking it would be good for him to run but he is so social that he would rather visit than run. Followed the other dogs who were going home so we ended up just letting him play with others. He and the cats have finely gotten so they will be in the same room and he no longer chases them every time he sees them. Once in a while when no one is paying attention he might start after one of them but stops when they turn around and refuse to take his SHIT.... He is just a big lovable bundle of energy. Our grandson loves him and dosnt get upset when Dud knocks him down He just Growls at Dud. They share their toys. We love Dud and he will be our forever dog. Bill has retired from the shop but is doing work out of the Garage here. Want you to know Dudley sleeps in our bed at night now. At least thats where he starts out but doesn't stay long. One of these days I will meet you at the Bark Park and you can see Dud again.

Trip (Simmy)

Trip is doing very well! He hasn't had a single chewing incident since he arrived (of course I've probably jinxed myself now --- and he's surrounded by his 'chewies.') He came to the GLBCR garage sale helped me pick out more stuff to fill my already cluttered house! Oh, well. Trip's doing better all the time with the horses and has learned to leave the cat alone, although the cat isn't always very nice to him. He LOVES to go for car rides; hangs his head out the back window like a real big dog. On a sad note, we had Tina put to sleep last week, as she had continued to lose weight; the sparkle was going from her eyes. It was good for us to have Trip's shoulder to cry on, but we really miss her. This weekend I'm going to Seattle to visit my sister with my mom, aunt, and Joe, 'the boys', Trip and Urak, will be watching the farm. I hope it's still standing when I get back! Joe says it's pig ears and pizza for everyone. p.s. Trip sends a cuddle. 03/04
