Hannah

Foster name:  Cheyenne
Adoption name:Hannah
History: Cheyenne was picked up as a stray in Indiana and had obviously been on her own for a while.

Update: Hannah looked up at me with such deep, deep love in her eyes that it brought tears to my eyes.....it made me think about how far we had all come. If you could only see her now....'strutting' around the yard (she's the boss) with her brother always a step or two behind her as if to say, "What should we do now Hannah?"....and then all of a sudden they're off....chasing squirrels, birds, each other, or playing 'keep away' with their favorite toy....a plastic gallon ice cream container (go figure!) She's so very happy and we are so thankful that there are people and groups out there like GLBCR. Still gentle and sweet, no longer submissive and fearful, our Hannah is a confident young lady now. She excels at agility and loves to be outdoors. She'd be outside 24-7 if possible, just chasing the resident squirrels or her baby brother, who may be twice as fast as her, but is definitely not as smart..... she corners him every time in true BC fashion!

1-3-05 I recently asked our neighbor to watch the kidz, while we were gone for the day. She, of course, said she would....that they were 'no problem at all'.... then she added, "They're so good....such HAPPY dogs." And I thought to myself......MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!!!! Our little 'diamond in the rough' continues to shine! She's happy and confident and in her eyes we see such deep, deep love that it takes my breath away. She's still very 'alpha' with other dogs, but does do better with dogs that she's gotten to know at the park. There's a pack of 3 Golden's that have just learned to ignore her and she's fine.....until they 'do' something they're not supposed to!! I wish you could see her running free in our backyard playing with her brother, Sammy!! She instigates the play more often than not, which makes us smile, considering she didn't really understand that life could be full of 'fun' when she first came to us. We credit Sammy for teaching her about real border collie fun. He is and always will be a mischievous little devil.....EVERYTHING is a game for him. Bringing him home was the BEST thing we ever could have done for Hannah. We're enjoying our lives with 2 very special border collies. Pics are hard to come by since my girl is still more than a little camera shy! She even runs and hides when she hears the sound the camera makes when it's being turned on! My favorite is the one of the two of them peacefully laying on the grass, each facing a different direction so that together they're 'covering' the whole yard and making sure nothing slips by on their 'watch'.....like two perfect bookends!!! 0100

XJake found a home with a nice family to love him. He's pretty lucky, because his clock was ticking at the shelter he came from. See how he's grown! 0200 X

Skye was rescued by MO-KAN Border Collie Rescue from a Missouri shelter. She's a wonderful, loving laid-back girl. A very nice couple made her a new family. Looks like she's turning in to dad's dog :-) Skye has been to several different classes including basic obedience, a tricks class and intro to agility. She has shined in them all. Skye's folks ended up adopting Rodeo from GLBCR. 0200 X

Chief was returned to his breeder because the people weren't prepared for the Border Collie Lifestyle. He stayed with them until his new family came and adopted him. He's got another BC mix and some kids to play with, a nice family! 0400 X

Nugget is a true rescue. He went from death row to having a wonderful new mom and a doggie brother and sister. He'll never be unwanted again. 0500

05/14/2007 My darling Nugget passed away from congestive heart failure in December 2005. He will always be loved by his human and canine family members. He enjoyed exploring his new home in New Mexico and making new friends at the Santa Fe dog park.

Tess touched the heart of everyone she came in contact with here in GLBCR. She was a big happy girl with lots of energy and a just a little bit of sassy. She had many of quirky ways that her new family loved about her.

Poor Tess passed away in October, 2002 due to complications from Addison's Disease. She was lovingly tended by her adopters, who are grieving over her passing. We are grateful for the love the Walkers were able to give Tess in her illness.

We'll look for you at the Rainbow Bridge, Tess.0500
