Veronica (Roni)

History: Veronica was left in an overnight holding pen at an Animal Control facility. She was quite thin and pregnant. She had to be moved or euthanized, because newborn pups could not survive in the overcrowded shelter. Rescue groups were contacted, but no foster space was available. A GLBCR foster agreed to evaluate Veronica and could not leave without her. The only space available at the foster's home was a fenced pasture with a small horse barn. That's where Roni got settled, while phone calls were made trying to find an emergency foster, experienced in whelping pups. Upon returning to the barn, with food and bedding, Roni had already given birth to her first pup! After midnight, Roni gave birth to her last pup. The pups were born on September 7, 2004. Veronica found her forever home with the couple who adopted another GLBCR alumni, Jobey.

11/29/04 Roni is doing good. She hadn't urinated for a couple days, so I took her to the vet. A $150 dollars later, they said she is fine, no physical reason not to urinate. Then she promptly came home and urinated and pooped. Kids! She seems to be bonding to me. Pretty much is ignoring my husband. I have never had a dog do that before, but for the last 3 days I have been the person feeding and walking, so it shouldn't be too surprising. She is getting along with, a slightly green, Jobey too. She truly is a love.

12/7/04 Jobey is mellowing toward the interloper. He never chews (except for when we first got him) but in the week after Roni came he ripped a piece out of a chair skirt and chewed a shoe string off my tennis shoe. Tonight he actually tried to get Roni to play a little when we went out for "final call". Roni is my dog apparently. She still ignores my husband when he tries to talk to her, walk her, anything. I have never had a dog so "one person". I am still not walking her off leash. We tried one day and she just started down the road without looking back. Grabbed the car and found her just a short way down the road in another yard. She acted thrilled to see me! So we drag a 25 ft horse lunge rope behind her on walks. Makes walking in the woods a real experience! She does like rabbits and squirrels, so I am still very wary to have her off lead. Jobey has come so far and I think with time she will too, even warming up to hubby.

12/15/04 Just wanted to let you know we are making progress with Roni. She is still on the lead for walks, though. We sometimes let her drag it but every time we think she is OK to unleash she does something to make us nervous. The Southern girl LOVES snow though! She would stay out all day in it, which is one thing I think bothers her. She thinks we don't spend enough time outside. It will take time to convert her to liking being an "inside dog".

2/28/05 Roni has definitely become a guard dog of the house. If I am gone, she gets along great with my husband. If I am at home, she acts like he is invisible. Ignores him and won't come when called to go out for a potty break. I think she would rather burst her bladder then leave her guarding duty - at least she thinks it is her duty! She still has a thing for squirrels. They must have had some draw for her in a former time.

12/17/05 Veronica and Jobey just got their Christmas baths and were upset with me - for about 5 minutes! A quick romp in the snow and a crunchy bone made them feel the world was wonderful again. Both dogs are doing well and have adjusted great. Jobey has been taught to play like a dog by Veronica and now often takes the lead in a game of tag. She loves it when he hits her hard enough to bowl her clean over. They both follow me around the house and help me study at night making periodic checks to see I am still at my desk. Roni has warmed up to my husband but still snuffle barks if I am up or down stairs and he comes to that level. Apparently, I am her primary responsibility and she doesn't take it lightly. Jobey just loves us both and soaks up all the attention he can get. Unfortunately neither one has an ounce of herding instinct in their bodies, but they are still great dogs.

Callie (Erika)

Adoption Date: 12/30/04

History: Callie (Erika) was the first born of Veronica's litter. Veronica just got settled in her foster home and started delivering pups within the hour. There were seven pups - 4 females and 3 males. All the pups seem to enjoy splashing water, playing with toys, leaping high into the air to catch, and using their muzzle to poke their humans as a greeting! Callie (Erika) attended a gift wrapping fund raiser, at Borders Bookstore, while in foster care. The customers adored her and she adored the special attention. Her picture was featured on the GLBCR's 2005 Valentine's Day fundraiser, too!

4/2/05 We are doing great and so is the pup. She is so smart and so cute. She passed her obedience classes with flying colors and our daughter wants to take her to agility training this summer. We renamed her Callie (rhymes with Sally) and she quickly became a part of the family. She loves to explore the woods and ponds, go on walks and she still plays in her water dish!

4/4/05 I just returned from the vet this morning (Callie had her heartworm check) and she weighed in at 39 pounds. The vet said she was in perfect physical condition. I've looked at the martingale collars and will be ordering one to reinforce her training (not a fan of choke chain collars). She is a sweetie but very strong willed. I'm also ordering one of the "indestructible" balls for Callie- I can't tell you how many balls and different types she has gone through. She lives to play ball and the bigger the ball the more she likes it.

Felix (Rossi)

Adoption Date: 11/28/04

History: Felix (Rossi) was Veronica's second born pup.

12/14/05 Dear Foster Mom:

Hi. It is me, Rossi. My humans now call me Felix and a whole bunch of other terms of endearment (e.g. woofie, felicitas, mcweelix, etc). My full name is Felix Arturo Gertrude Rothschick (don't ask, it is a long story!). I am thriving here in Central Illinois. My humans adore me and we are well matched and make a wonderful family. Still I miss you and my sibling pups. How are they doing?

I just got back from my morning walk. It was wild out there....25 mph winds, snow, and sleet and I enjoyed every minute of it! I ran through the farmer's field and had a great time jumping through deep snow drifts in the ditches. It helped me get some of my ya-yas out. If I don't get my hour long runs in the morning and evening, I can be quite mischevious. Fortunately my humans are very committed to me and take good care to exercise me religiously.

I just recently celebrated my first year anniversary with my humans. None of us understand where the time went but we had a lot of fun. It was time for my annual check up as well. My vet says I am doing great. I am lean and trim from all the running I do but I weigh 69 lbs! My humans tell me I am supposed to be around 50 lbs, but then, I am an over-achiever.

I love to play ball! I will chase a tennis ball all day long if I can find someone to keep throwing it. I also love to go running with one of my humans. I especially like running up and down the hill when my humans go sledding. They take me with them a lot which I really appreciate. I go to work with my male human sometimes and even recently joined them at a B&B for a weekend. We did a lot of hiking that trip. I am always up for physical activity! We went camping in Wisconsin this past summer and I got to spend an entire week chasing a stick into Lake Michigan. That was great but I was tired at the end of those days!

04/17/2006 Felix was bathed and groomed today, so he is looking particularly handsome....all 75 lbs. of him! He is trim, but very tall and solid. He remains a joy.

Opie

Adoption Date: 11-21-04

History: Opie was Veronica's third born pup of the litter. He was the shyest of all his siblings, preferring to follow another's lead.

12/3/04 We had our first vet visit last weekend, where Opie was the doted on by the vet-techs. He was munching on a cookie, during vaccinations, and hardly even noticed. Opie has settled right into home life here in Howell. He's learning to use the doggie doors to let himself out for potty breaks, though he still needs a parent to go along with him more often than not. Our older dog, Browsie, has warmed up to Opie very well, and aside from a grumble now and again if Opie gets too close to a favorite bone, Browsie has no problems. As a matter of fact, they play together several times a day. This usually involves a game of chase in the backyard around a patio chair we've set outside. Opie is more agile than Browsie, but Browsie is a little smarter at the game. It's quite funny to watch. Browsie growls loudly during the chases, but her tail is always wagging. He has also taken to her style of play and barks and growls at her when he is initiating play time, just as she does. The only time Browsie puts Opie in his place is if Opie nips too close. There's only so much a dignified dog like Browsie will take, after all! Opie, however, has gotten in the habit of observing what Browise does, then tries to copy the behavior (which is what we were hoping for).

We glance at each other every once in a while in 'fear' when Opie grabs a toy and prances away with his ears pinned back, or wanders into the bathroom and looks at the toilet. These are Browise habits - if you have watched your allocated amount of television, she takes away the remote and if you forgot to put the toilet lid down she has to inform us of that as well. So (fortunatley) he's learning her 'bad' habits as well as her good ones. Opie is not a bold dog, but he has turned out not to be a "fraidy cat" at all. He's getting better at going on leash walks, and when he encounters something new, his way of dealing with it is to sit down and watch it for a little while quietly. Stairs are no longer a problem for him, though he takes them very slowly right now, unless he's following "Big Sister" down. As far as his day goes during the week, Opie has been spending time with his grandfather until he becomes more comfortable to hang out in the laundry room by himself during the day. He spends the night in his "apartment" and usually makes it through the night without fussing, unless he has a nite-nite treat and loses it then he cries until he gets it back. We're going to see about training him to have the entire washroom to be free in during the day in the next few weeks, so he doesn't have to be contained in the crate at all. He's usually very calm about everything.

We have seen Opie's shy and timid side, although it seems to be fading more every day. We have also seen his protective side. When Browise's friends come to visit her, Opie growls and barks while running toward them, runs back to the house for the "safe touch" and turns around and runs back after them. He has also been found sitting in the dog house just outside the dog door when they were wandering around on our property and growling protecting them from entering his new house. It may not be possible to see from the pictures, Opie is changing and growing up! He has developed dark brown spots on his nose and over his eyes. His "stripe" has not developed any more than it was before. It also seems that his ears are beginning to perk up a bit more - it looks like they will stand up! When he lays on the floor getting belly rubs, his ears lay flat against the floor, and we can tell he'll be quite a handsome man with his ears erect.

12/5/04 Are you talking about that Opie that's in my house? He's ok- he chews on my bones, plays with my toys and gets loving from my people. He's fun to chase outside - we play chase around a chair outside and he's not smarter than me and I always tag him first. He follows me everywhere - I don't even get peace when I go poop. He used to make messes in the house, but he figured that I go potty outside and so he follows me out my four-legged people door. I guess he can stay. At least now I have someone to lay on the rug and chew bones with together. Browsie

Sorry, looks like Browsie got to the email first. :) Opie is doing wonderful in his new life and Browise seems to tolerate him. She seems to be more comfortable with him everyday. Right now they are taking a nap together on the doggie couch. We are very pleased with his progress in going potty outside, right now 9 out of 10 times he goes out the dog door by himself to our backyard. The other time, he's having too much fun to walk ALL the way outside, so he's swept up and taken outside. With all that he's had to adjust to in just 2 weeks, we're very proud of him. His foster said he was shy/timid and he was the first couple of days, but he certainly keeps coming out of his shell. He protects his yard by growling and barking at Browsie's friends when they come over to visit. He's also getting used to Grandma and Grandpa - found out that Grandpa likes to walk and give treats.

One curious thing - my husband pays more attention to Opie, but Opie pays more attention to me. We think because Browsie treats me as the alpha Opie picked up on that and follows through. Here's some photos of them at Thanksgiving. Thanks for helping us find a good dog for Browsie!! He's gonna keep her on her toes! (Us too, for that matter).

12/02/2005 We promised we would send some pictures of Opie's one-year old birthday trip to Mackinac Island with his sister Browsie. We've tried taking pictures of him while he's playing Frisbee and flying through the air - he jumps nearly six feet in the air to catch it (if it's thrown well). But the little guy is so fast, unless you want pictures of his feet or rear end, the pictures just don't do him justice.

He had a great time exploring the island with his sister, except for being introduced to Lake Huron. He hasn't seen THAT much water before and didn't want to walk in the water until big sister showed him it was ok. We found this quite strange because at home he has no problem jumping in his pool and laying right down. He really liked the hiking portion, we hiked about 10 miles a day and he was so interested in all the smells and the horse poop. We were worried Browsie would inform him of the great tasting horse poop, but he found out how wonderful it is on his own. We also found out that he has difficulty in walking in a straight line - to the right and smell, to the left and smell, to the right and smell...

He is still a bit scared around people, but did very well in the downtown area and on the ferry ride. He did pee all over the ferry deck when he first got on the boat, but soon found looking over the rail fun. He wanted no part of riding in a horse drawn carriage with us, so Browsie (who loves going for a ride) and I took a ride downtown while the boys walked. As soon as we got off the carriage, Opie jumped up as if to say 'Okay all ready to go'. Maybe next time he'll go for a ride.

Browsie

Here's some photos of them at Thanksgiving. Thanks for helping us find a good dog for Browsie!! He's gonna keep her on her toes! (Us too, for that matter). 6/28/05 Opie is quite a wonderful puppy. If it flies, he will chase it all day. He has his own pool now, since his older sister Browsie hates any form of water other than the drinking form, so he runs around for a bit and then lays down in the pool to cool off for about three seconds and keeps on running. Opie and Browsie get along great, especially during play time. Browsie had to figure out that when he bats her on the side of her head with his front paw he wanted to play. But now that she understands and doesn' think he's trying to beat her up, they run around like lunatics chasing after each other. We found out the hard way that if you are in their path during play time, you will be on the floor! So we huddle in a corner and laugh hysterically while they growl and chase and then fall down pooped! Opie loves his people: mama, papa, sister, grandma and grandpa. But he is still shy and scared of everyone else. If the same person comes to our house, he will eventually warm up to them, but we would like to take him on a vacation for he'd love the hiking and exploring. Yes, he is not scared of exploring around our house or on walks in our area. He has changed behaviors since he joined our family at Thanksgiving. He started out just peeing out of fright. He has gained confidence since living with us and now expresses his fear with barking: stating that he is a REALLY BIG DOG and YOU should be frightened. However, if someone were to get close, he'd still pee on himself.

Currently there are no lasting effects after he has been introduced to other people. As soon as they leave, he is perfectly nutty as usual. We purchased a small agility course: tunnel, weave poles and small high jump - to help with his confidence (he's not impressed with our "high jump" as he can jump nearly 6 feet in the air to catch a Frisbee or four feet vertically from a standing position. The two foot "high jump" is then quite trivial in comparison). We are not sure this will work as he is already VERY confident at home. Thanks again for helping us find Opie: he's certainly a treasure!!

9/7/05 Our family (mama, papa, Opie and Browsie) attended the picnic in Westville, IN. It was great fun to show how well Opie is doing. Being the frightened boy he is of all people and dogs, he had NO problems, he was even running up to complete strangers and dropping his Frisbee at their feet for them to throw. We've been working with him quite a bit in public places and he is remarkably better with strange people. As long as they go about their business, he goes about his. He has turned into quite a wonderful little buddy.

Maddie (Nina)

Adoption Date: 11-26-04

History: Maddie (Nina) was Veronica's fourth born pup in the litter. She was adopted by a family, whose senior BC had recently passed, leaving a void in their home and hearts.

11/27/04 Maddie is doing just wonderful and she is so beautiful! I am in love. We have decided to call her Maddie. She is so smart and a perfect match for our family. She knows who I am already. We haven't had any accidents yet either. I'm afraid that she is our new lap dog:) Maddie did sleep through the night just fine. We put her in her kennel and all the children slept right next to her on the kitchen floor. I will keep in touch with you so that you can hear about her growing up. Thank you so much for giving us the opportunity to love again.

1/30/04 Maddie is doing fine and the star of the neighborhood. She knows the word "No" already when I say it. Loves to go outside and play. Has learned to sit for a treat. She seems very aware of what is going on. She also went on the school bus now, two mornings in a row. We are having a blast!

3/23/05 Maddie has an appointment on Monday for her spay. Hopefully everything will go well. She loves riding the school bus, in the mornings, and getting such special attention from the kids.

Indigo

History: Indigo was Veronica's fifth born pup of the litter. Indy was the most outgoing, active, mature pup in the litter....friendly, happy, playful, always first to investigate, and tended to be the protector of his siblings. He was adopted to a dog savvy, young couple. After a few weeks in their home, Indy seemed to have continued issues towards strangers and was returned to GLBCR foster care. He was so comfortable with his foster's home, he decided to stay permanently ;-)

1/24/05 Indy tends to get in the trash....literally ;-)

2/17/05 2/17/05 Indy has been exposed to different places, people, and situations. Today, he visited the pet store. It was busier than expected, but he did fine....until a lady turned the corner and headed towards us. Indy did growl and positioned himself between my feet. The lady apologized for startling us and backed away with her cart. Indy and I continued to walk around the store, meeting several people. It seems that he is mainly fearful when people approach him and look directly at him. With a proper introduction, using goodies or toss toys, Indy will give them kisses. He is absolutely great here....totally a cuddle bug, perfect recall, great buddy to the other pups, extremely willing to please, and good manners (except the trash cans ;-)

04/18/2006 Indy went to the vet today for heartworm testing and weighed in at 61#. He got a bath and brush out yesterday and will get his summer cut tomorrow. Here he is in his full coat, a blue tri. As soon as the weather turns warm, he swims every day. His thick coat would stay wet 24/7, if he didn't get a buzz cut!

2/26/05 Indy has been introduced to herding and today was enrolled in obedience class. He and Asti are also enrolled in socialization time - no command training, just socialization with people and dogs. This is an experiment to discover if Indy becomes uncomfortable when he is without a familiar dog.

3/11/05 Indy has no resource guarding issues; he is not food/toy possessive or aggressive. In fact, he's rather passive towards the other dogs. He is a big, loving boy towards me and anyone I introduce him to. However, if a stranger approaches him, Indy will sometimes growl and back up....no showing of teeth, no lunging, no barking. The stranger has to approach him, not me. Even if I am at his side, Indy understands the difference between a human walking towards me or towards him. Indy went to the vet to be altered. His testicles have not dropped, so surgery will be more invasive than the typical neuter. He has to wear the bucket collar, but thinks it's part of a new game. The silly boy!

4/14/05 Good News: Indigo passed his obedience class!!! This was a Beginner Class, not a puppy class. He lost points on heel position (lagged), sit-heel position (sits facing me), and sit-stay (went into down, twice). He was great on sit, let's go, down, ho (halt), turns, about turns, stay, recall, and find me. He even did great on stranger greeting and allowed the tester to pet him (bribed with treats ;-) Bad News: I lost points on physical contact with dog during testing, posture, and being too quick to praise and release. I just can't keep my hands off of Indy when he's doing so good! So what if I'm a little too touchy-feely. Indy loves it ;-)

7/16/05 Indy went to the Animal Planet Expo held at our 4H Fairgrounds. He went "sensory overload" at the sight, sound, and smell of all the humans! He did play Frisbee with some kids, though and visited his friends at the Search and Rescue booth. He is nothing but a big lovin' boy.

10/4/05 Indy loves to swim! And he stayed wet most of the early Spring. With his thick undercoat, it was nearly impossible to keep him groomed. So, he got a puppy cut at the start of warm weather.

Clara (Clarice)

Adoption Date: 11-26-04

History: Clarice is Veronica's sixth born pup of the litter. She was a feisty girl, though she was one of the smallest pups.

Update: 4-4-05 Clara still a feisty girl, ready to take on the world. She is so loving to our family, especially the female members. When strangers approach, Clara will bark. We've had trouble getting her to come when called, so we are working on that. I haven't found the time to enroll Clara in an obedience class, but hope to soon. Clara loves to play ball, still splashes in her water dish, and pokes us in the groin to say, "Hi".

Adria

Adoption Date: 12/27/04

History: Adria was the last of Veronica's puppies to be born. When romping with smaller or younger pups, she's gentle and submissive. Yet, Adria is a ruffian when wrestling with the big dogs! She loves long walks, especially in wooded areas with lots to explore. Though adventurous, her curiosity is tempered with caution.

Adria was adopted by Shep's family, who live a country life with plenty of land to explore. Shep and Adria are snuggled, during the transport home, from the adoption meeting. Looks like they will be best buddies!

X X
More Pictures

5/17/05 Shep and Adria are quite the duo - and they are the best of friends! You can always catch them digging a giant hole together for the heck of it! Adria is growing with leaps and bounds. She is such the joker and is the first pup out the door and the first to meet and greet family. She is still shy with strangers, very shy actually, however we are gradually socializing her to become more acceptive of others - it takes a day or two before she loves on strangers - and strangers after 48 hours become best friends. So, she still needs some work on her boldness, but in every other aspect she's wonderful.

Adria is fun and friendly. She does not pay any mind to livestock, and I have been training her from horseback so she can safely accompany Shep, my horse, and me on rides. She loves to play in water (even her doggie bowl - she'll paw at the water and make a big mess or lay with her face in the bowl or her feet). She enjoys car rides now and is the first to jump up in the cab of the truck. And she has also started to learn and understand the concept of playing frisbee. Frisbee is Shep's favorite game - and Adria would always go after the frisbee when Shep already caught it - but now she has started to learn how to catch it on her own. She's not incredibly good yet, but she's very athletic and is proving to be a good student.

Adria is very loving and loves to cuddle. She's a lap dog now, when she's a lot bigger than her puppy size. She still weighs very little, but she's still bigger than most pups and wants to be right up in your face and in your way. When you're trying to watch TV, it's not a surprise when she jumps up onto your lap, sitting with her face right in your's, blocking your view. She's wonderful and very dainty. However, if there's a mess of mud to find - or something stinky - be sure that Adria will be the first to find it (and then let you know)! My fiancé and I have learned over these past couple of months that Adria is a Daddy's Angel, and Shep has always been (and will always be) a Mama's Boy!

The pictures are from the last couple of months, I will have to send more recent pictures, because Adria has been growing and sprouting a lot! Shep and Adria always try to dig their way to China, it doesn't matter where they are - if there's dirt, they'll try to tunnel their way there!

1/12/06 Adria is starting to mature and blossom into a beautiful border collie. Her coat is starting to grow longer and fuller, which is making her look 10x's more beautiful - if that's even possible. Adria is a spitfire - and a true angel. She is energetic, intelligent, athletic, great with the horses, and tons of fun!! She's everything that we have hoped she'd be - and more. She's always active and running some where's, however if she's called to attention, she'll always drop what she is doing and pay mind until she is told what is expected of her. Adria is still shy and questioning of strangers, but eventually, she can be won over - and once you have her trust (and meet her liking), she's a lap dog - with a big heart and millions of kisses ready to give. She'll give hugs, pats on your back, or smooches constantly. She's always up for a cuddle with someone she loves, and those who she loves - well, no one ever denies her some loving!

Adria loves to swim - and every second she can, even during winter, she's leaping into the pond to take a dip - BRRR!!! Adria loves car rides, is great with our kitten (Cami), and is a 110% Daddy's baby girl. Adria loves to model after something that she observes... She pounces like a cat and tries to eat at the table like a person does (but she's not allowed to do that, so she doesn't try a lot!!). She also can be spotted quite often bounding off into the trees or a field after deer, leaping just as they do. She seemed disappointed when the geese flew off, and she wasn't able to fly! Best of all, Adria always has a goofy grin that brings a smile to anyone's face. Both of our GLBCR dogs have been wonderful blessings. Adria is such a delight and we couldn't be happier with our goofy pup. And Shep will always be a Mama's boy to the end - he's my absolute love. They are both amazing individuals; Adria's fiery spirt and Shep's steadfast loyalty makes our household complete. Thank you so much for giving us the opportunity to share our life with such wonderful souls.

09/17/2006 Oh boy, where can I begin with this little vixen? Almost two years old - and, boy, you'd think she'd start nurturing some of the wisdom that Shep seems to have been born with... Adria is a beautiful and charismatic pup - full of energy, will, and life. She's constantly on the go - and, boy, does she loves to play also. Adria is very intelligent and athletic - she's quick to pick up new commands and rolls over on cue, and is just so adorable!!! She's great with the horses, loves bounding after deer, herding geese, and swimming - man, does she love to swim!! She will whine and prance around your feet begging for you to throw the stick "just one more time" for another leap into water... She seems to swear with her eyes, "just one more, I swear, then we can stop"... But as soon as she's back again, the begging starts all over again. I have to be careful that she's doesn't exhaust herself. She's very sweet with those she knows and loves, which honestly is only three others and myself.

That's the downfall of Adria, she was shy when we first picked her up as a puppy and is still shy now with strangers. She's slightly aggressive and although it's not a problem for us in the home, it's a lot to work on - and over the years, she's proving to be a difficult student in this aspect. We are very slowly trying to teach her proper manners and that not everyone is out to get her - and she's seems to be doing well, but it's going to take a lot of time.

All in all, I feel blessed to have my two rescued Border Collies. They are a daily enjoyment and indulgence - Shep and Adria themselves are inseparable. (Except when Adria's swimming, Shep will only wade along the shoreline where he can touch!!) They have brought humor, fun, and security into my household. Shep plays the role of the wise old man and Adria is our slightly naive but exuberant little girl - it balances out well.

Thank you very much for your services to this breed and rehoming these deserving dogs into loving forever homes. I hate to even think about the life Shep would have lived without the interception and assistance from GLBCR. You have done a great job with not only giving these abused and abandoned dogs a second chance, but having also enhanced the lives of many families.

Nick

Nick is a 7 year old BC whose owners got a new pup and had no more time for him. Nick had worked hard on their farm all his life, and despite being turned out by his ungrateful family, he still thinks people are great! He is housebroken and has begun playing with toys.

Pippa

Pippa is incredibly loving and sweet. She loves to play non stop and exhibits incredible intelligence. I believe she needs a home where she can utilize her amazing intelligence, speed and drive. I think she could be a champion at doggie sports. She has a strong herding instinct but at only 19lbs and 1/3 the size of your standard border collie she probably wouldn't do as well there. Who knows. She is just like a little shrinky dink smooth coat B&W BC. Her ears are like silk and she has dalmation socks on her front legs. She is adorable...and loves to stretch out next to me at night in bed. She gets along with my kids and my other dogs and loves to play..constantly. She does settle down, but has the usually puppy bad behavior. She needs obedience classes at the least, but she really wants to please.. so she will go far. Last week I caught her trying to refill her own water dish with my liter bottle of water. It was messy but I was amazed that she knew what to do. She continues to amaze me and I will be very sad to see her go. Pippa's perfect home would be with a family that is around a lot, respectful children. Obedience and agility training. She is not happy being separated from the family and would like to sleep right next to you with her head on your pillow. She does chase cats, she hasn't hurt them, but I believe a home without cats would be best.
