X Blair

8/20/2005 Blair came to us not hearty of body, but ever so hearty of soul. His adoption bio read, "There are no strangers in Blair's world." Soft of heart and strong of soul, Blair overcame a past of neglect malnourishment and abandonment, and emerged holding no grudges. Blair brings a ray of sunshine with him so warm, it burns deeply into your heart.

We are grateful to have been chosen as his forever home and will give all we can to him to make all the days forward the best that they can be.

Baxter

Baxter is pure Border Collie! He is energetic, has a strong ball drive, and is intensely focused on anything that moves. He's friendly to all humans, but is especially fond of children. Baxter gets along great with other dogs and would be a great addition, if you have a playful canine pal.
Baxter was found as a stray and taken to a Humane Society. While there, he was selected to walk in the town's Christmas Parade. His friendly personality was perfect to mingle with the crowds of children, at this event.

Tansy (Disney)

Disney is a special dog who needs a special owner. She has not had much interaction with people or other animals until recently but is very sweet natured and friendly. Her former owner bought her from a breeder as a young puppy and didn't spend any time with her. This meant Disney has lived her entire life in an outside pen. She is very passive and timid and has much to learn. She seeks to be right next to her foster mom since she is most comfortable around women. The ideal home for her would be with a single woman who wanted a compainion to be there for her. She follows her foster mom everywhere, not wanting to let her out of her site. She enjoys the company of other dogs and loves to play "chase", loves to go for walks and would be easily perimeter trained. She is very smart and learned her name in just one day. She sleeps all night in her crate loves to snuggle on the couch. She settles nicely in the house and is inquisitive of her surroundings but not nosey. When not distracted by other pets, Disney loves to toss and play with plush toys during quiet times. She is a quiet little girl, but will announce visitors with a bark or two. Disney loves to give kisses and will sit nicely to receive affection, and will return it in spades!

Chase

Update 2/8/05
Chase did so well last night - I laid out a blanket for him in our room, but he decided it was more comfortable on the couch! My husband said when he got up this morning, Chase was sleeping away with his head on the pillow! He didn't ask to go out at all during the night. He ate his breakfast right up this morning. We took him to the bus stop to meet everyone. When the bus pulled up and the kids all ran to get on, he wanted to go to! He barked and barked until that bus was gone! I can't thank you enough for helping us get this amazing dog! Let us know when your dog park is ready and we'll come meet you up there! I've attached some pictures. I'll send more soon!
P.S. Chase also seems to want to become friends with the cat!

Frankie

Frankie is a beautiful tri colored purebred border collie. He was a true gift from god as he was saved by chance at my local animal control shelter where I volunteer. The people who work there are wonderful, but they don' t always make the best decisions and Frankie was a bad decision. Frankie came in as a stray on December 17th. He had kennel crazies to a degree I had never seen before. He was labeled dog aggressive and left in the back, not available to the public. We, the volunteers, didn't even know about him. By chance the usual dog employee went on vacation and the other employee put Frankie out one day before his time was up. With the help of other GLBCR volunteers I decided to take him home and see how he was out of the shelter environment. What I got for the risk I took was the most wonderful, sweet, completely unaggressive dog. As a matter of fact, if he was female instead I'd have to name him Mary Poppins because he is "Practically Perfect in Every Way."

Aurora (Bauble)

Update 4/4/05
Hi All, I just wanted to let everyone know I am doing sooo good in my new home. I started Puppy Kindergarten last week. I am the only Border Collie in my class! Most of my puppy friends don't even know I am deaf, I watch Mom all the time when we are heeling. I have grown to about 30lbs, but am still a little skinny they tell me I need to eat more. I have started to act like my big brother Athens and sometime Mom & Dad mistakenly call me Athens. They say I am a clone of his personality and looks only smaller? I went to Petco this weekend with Mom & Dad to watch them sell stuff and I was such a good little girl they tell me. I like all dogs and all humans, it helps to get those extra treats when your friendly! I had my picture taken while I was there too. Mom is having me learn how to send it to you all. OK, gotta go my paws are tired now and Mom want's the computer back. Love to all, Aurora

Rodeo

11/07/2006 We would like to send a couple of photos of these beach bums! Rodeo and Cinder are doing great! These two love to travel! Rodeo has been everywhere from the south, NYC and Newfoundland Canada! Cinder will be going on her first Newfoundland trip next summer. Rodeo was adapted in Feb. of 2005 and Cinder was adopted in March of 2006. We love these two.

X Valentine

Val is gorgeous! Val has a beautiful, full, shiny coat. He's great with the other dogs, doesn't show interest in the cats, friendly to people, a little leash shy.
Valentine had his leg X-rayed, today....no anesthesia needed. He's such a good boy! It appears he had an injury to his ankle, as a pup, which caused the leg bones to stop growing. The bones took on a curve. He will need to have leg surgery.

Val's story

X
X Comet

After being picked up as a stray in Jefferson County, Mo., Comet started his life with GLBCR in a pretty exciting way. He was being transported from southern Indiana up to Michigan with Charlotte, when she decided to give birth to her 8 puppies. He seemed quite unfazed by all this excitement and settled in with Linda and her doggy family as though nothing had happened. Comet is a very friendly dog with unusual markings. He doesn't seem to have a mean bone in his body and even Mitzi, Linda's more timid bc/mix, loves to play with him. He has been to the dog park in Northville every day and gets along with every dog he has met. Comet's lab side shows in that he is very playful, and loves to chew his Kong or any toy he can find. We have yet to teach him to put all the toys back. Comet would do well in a home with another dog, probably an alpha dog, that likes to play.

Moose

Moose is 60 pounds of fun and clowning around! He is a border collie/lab cross and has really gotten the best traits from both breeds. He would be perfect for someone looking for a dog with less energy than a typical border collie. He is very loving, energetic, playful, friendly, and tolerant. He is gentle with the cats and other dogs. When we come in from a walk, he plops down behind my desk and naps while I work on the computer. He is truly content just being around his family; he does not need the constant attention that some border collies require. He enjoys chewing on bones and pig's ears and occasionally playing with a squeaky toy.
He is still very much of a puppy at heart. He is housebroken and well-mannered in the house, but needs some work on walking on a leash and not jumping on people. He really wants to please though, and is learning basic commands quickly.
He would be a perfect family companion.
