X Lady stole everyone's heart at the shelter and they worked hard to get her safely in to rescue. She was heartworm and very pregnant. Lady now lights up the life of her boy Drew. She will never want for love again! 0401

X Kipper (Mikey) is a young Border Collie/Golden Retriever cross, the nicest mix. He and his buddy were playing in the mud right before I took his picture, he's really much more handsome than this! He came from the Michigan Humane Society, he had been adopted and returned, then came in to our rescue. Lucky for him, he now has a family to call his own. 0401

Howie during his 2nd trip to Florida. He loved "herding" the Gulf of Mexico.

Howie ended up at GLBCR because the family who had him just didn't have enough time for him. He also barked a lot and circled incessantly (a.k.a. Shadow chasing). He found a loving home where he felt secure and received some discipline. Howie went to specialized training and is now a SUPER DOG. Howie's barking has turned into humorous "woo-woos." He has an entire vocabulary of different woo-woos -- long ones, short ones, high-pitched, etc.

Howie's parents love him so much, and are giving him the wonderful life such a smart, handsome, loveable B.C. deserves. " He also has his best pal - a.k.a. Howie's little grey sheep - our cat, Davis. Howie is pretty lucky. We drive to Florida each October, and Howie has now been to Florida twice. Howie leaves from his trip to the Gulf of Mexico asking, "But if you take me home to Michigan now, who's going to herd the gulf? It's my job. You don't see any other Border Collies around to take over for me." He herds the waves as they crash into the beach all day, every day, for 2 weeks. By the end of the trip, Howie is one tired B.C., and 5 pounds lighter. 0401

Kaylie has turned out to be a wonderful addition to our family. When we first got Kaylee she didn't trust people and she was very sick. With love, exercise, and medical visits, she is doing great.

X

As you can see by the pictures, Kaylee has a lot of friends. (Three kids, a bird, three cats and a cousin that is a black lab called Shelby.) Kaylee loves to play, especially soccer. She makes a great goalie! She catches Frisbee, balls, toys and even bugs in the air...

I can' imagine our family without Kaylee in it. It is hard to fathom why someone would abuse or neglect her. She is just one big loveable kid. (Or horse as we like to call her.)

We are so happy that we were able to adopt Kaylee and make her a part of our family. We would not be complete without her. Thank you! 0401

X Rocky is Surf's brother, who came from the City of Chicago shelter. Rocky got a GREAT new home with a very nice family who were waiting for JUST the right dog to come along. 0401

X Surf is about 10 weeks old here, and came from the shelter with his brother Rocky, below. Surf was adopted by his foster mom Wendy, who holds the record for jumping in with both feet by fostering 3 dogs at once in her first volunteer project! 0401

X Pepsi (Pepper) has been adopted by Wayne and Dorothy. "We have had her about 1 1/2 years. She is a delight to have as a companion. She loves us as much as we love her. She loves to ride in the car and follows Wayne everywhere. She loves to play tug with her toys and her chew bones are always on the floor, and she likes to hide little things. We are very happy we adopted her. You can actually see the love in her face when she looks at you. Oh and also she loves to have a facial with vaseline in the evening she closes her eyes like she enjoys it. She has a lot of room to run outside and comes home when we whistle for her as we live in the country. All three of us are happy being together. If we had a scanner we would send a picture. She is a real cutie." 0601
