Meet Cayla

BACK
Cayla is co-founder and Treasurer of GLBCR. She has been involved with dogs and humane associations her entire life, and has worked at shelters in Philadelphia, Indiana, California, Montreal, Chicago, and Italy. She is also active in the campaign against puppy mills. (For more info visit www.nopuppymills.com.) In her former life, she worked in Venture Capital and as a CFO, then threw it all away to pursue her passion for Border Collies. Her husband, who previously led a relatively uncomplicated life, has been unwittingly lured into the rescue world.

"My first Border Collie, Trixie, was adopted from the Chicago Pound in 1997 -- I didn't even know what a Border Collie was. Trixie just seemed like an awfully cute black and white dog.  The resulting baptism-by-fire led to a love of the breed, a career change, two more adopted BC's, and the formation of GLBCR. Without the guidance, however, of Jennifer Boznos of Call of The Wild, it would have been a much more frustrating experience for the dogs. They (and my husband) have been very patient as I've tried to understand this wonderful quirky breed."
