Are you considering rehoming your Border Collie?

No one likes to give up their dog. It can be a gut-wrenching, heart-breaking experience. If you are considering giving up your Border Collie, your dog depends on you, now more than ever, to have its best interests at heart.

There are several steps involved in re-homing your Border Collie. The decision to rehome is the first. GLBCR is here to help you with the others.

Before rehoming your Border Collie, GLBCR urges you to try the following:

  • Consult the " Can we help " site.
  • Contact a trainer and/or behavior specialist who can find a solution that allows your dog to remain in your family. GLBCR is happy to make suggestions for trainers in your area.
  • Ask the breeder, kennel, rescue organization or private party from whom you got your BC to take the dog back.

GLBCR's primary service (and often the only service we are able to provide) to families seeking help in rehoming a Border Collie or Border Collie mix is our Other Available page.

Border Collies can become quite distressed by being moved around. For this reason the best option for your dog is to remain in your home while you look for its new home. GLBCR's Other Available page makes this preferred option possible.

  • GLBCR will post your dog's picture, a brief paragraph about the dog that you provide and your contact information.
  • Any adoption you arrange is a private adoption between you and another party. GLBCR is happy to offer advice for setting the terms of the adoption.
  • Many dogs are adopted from the Other Available page long before they could have come into our rescue program.
  • Staying in familiar surroundings means that your dog will be more relaxed when meeting potential adopters and thus more likely to "put on its best face."
