Boden

Boden

While moving into a new home, a wandering Border Collie greeted me. Upon returning him to his owners, I learned Boden's story. The elderly couple, with whom Boden lived, did not want a dog. Their grandson purchased Boden, as a Christmas present. Only a few months later, the grandson moved into a trailer park, which didn't allow dogs. So, the grandparents allowed Boden to stay at their place.

Boden was kept on an eight foot chain, attached to a wooden box. There was no grass, only dirt, which turned to mud when it rained. He was in a wooded area with lots of shade, yet no sun to warm him. Occasionally, the grandson would visit As Spring approached, so did the rain. One particular weekend, it rained all day and night and the following day.

Suspecting Boden's space had flooded, I grabbed a leash, as soon as the rain eased up. Though expecting the worst, I almost cried when I saw him standing in water, 3 inches deep. Boden was so happy to see a friendly face and delighted to go for a walk. That's when I decided Boden needed my help. The elderly couple gladly accepted my offer to foster Boden, until a new home could be found. The grandson happily agreed Boden should be given the very best.

So, Boden came to stay at my home. However, Boden does not stay in the house, while I am away at work. He has access to the garage, but is on a 30 ft check cord. At night, he is contained inside the garage, with his doggie bed and a night light. My veterinarian and a good friend, came over to exam Boden and bring him up-to-date on vaccinations. She thinks he's adorable. My current work schedule requires me to be away from home 10 hours or more each day. Considering my past involvement in dog training and handling German Shorthaired Pointers, I realize how unfair my limited time is to such a smart dog. I don't have a single complaint about Boden and if given the proper time and attention, I'm certain he'd be that once in a lifetime kind of companion. Boden deserves a home and family, who will be as loyal and loving to him, as he will be to you.
