Update: Gryphin was adopted in January, 2008 and now lives on a small hobby farm. His new mom writes: "Good morning from the happy place! Gryph is settling in nicely. Monday mornings are very busy around here,
trying to get the dad and three teenagers out the door! I went down and did chores and was glad to see major tail wags when I let him out of the crate. While the milk was pasteurizing, ALL THREE dogs flaked out on their sides on the kitchen floor! "Peace and quiet, finally!" It made me smile. He watched carefully what came next. "Oh, okay. I get it! We all go down the stairs and go to work!" Now all three are flaked out in my office. Naps on a rainy day are very nice, aren't' they?! Gryph has been dreaming some, with an occasional whimper, but is very responsive to "it's okay, Gryph, it's okay." Lifts his head, then settles right back to sleep. Have a call into Chris Bessent - Kathy said they'd get me in soon. Thanks for the joy!" 
(two weeks later) "Gryph is absolutely wonderful! He "checks in" with the rest of the family, but pretty much stays glued to me! Talk about a buddy....He sleeps on the bath mat when I'm in the shower, dances all over the kitchen when it's time to go to the Post Office, gets up, stretches, then gives me the happy tail when my alarm goes off in the morning, etc. Such fun! The "anxious" look is gone from his eyes - he's figured out that he belongs and is staying here."
